I need help!...please anybody!...(user accounts)?

Question

well there is one computer that me and my sister share!

we both have seperate accounts on the computer so we are both seperate users, with our own passwords!

But my sister can see my own "My Documents" from her account, how can i stop her from viewing things from my account which she can see on hers.

I have private things on my account and my sister can view everything!...am sure this can be stopped!

I dont know about windows vista, but in windows 2000/xp you can do it by the following steps.

1) To enable permissions, you should use NTFS file system. Please verify if your dirve partition is of FAT type or NTFS (you can see in My computer window).

2) Also, ensure that only you have permission as Administrator and all others are users/power users. You can change user details in Control Panel -> User accounts.

3) In your windows explorer choose "Tools -> Folder Options" menu. In the "View" tab, ensure that "Use Simple File Sharing" option is unchecked. This option is displayed as the last item in the list.

4) Once you have done step-3, open the properties of the folder. Now you can see a new tab called "Security". You can control permissions of various users. No body can change the permissions back unless they have admin rights.

5) now you can enjoy. To test the security, create a normal user and try to access your folder by logging in as that new user.

your sister may be set up as an administrator which means she is able to view all files. try going into control panel and then user settings there may be an option there to stop her seeing them. u may need to get into her account to change the settings if you are not an administrator.

you go on the panel thing were you control everything start and it will be on right iside click on the two people user thingies and make two users and a password each i hope ur sister will not go on yours anymore

hehe only jokin. im not 100% how to do it but i think when your setting uo the password it asks you if you want to make your files private.
