  1. don't do it don't go to vista you just asking for prolbems keep xp

  2. You don't need to reformat, you can upgrade to Vista from XP.  Insert the disk in Xp and it should start.

Vista is good (as good as any MSFT OS could be), but you need to make sure that:

    a) You have enough processor power, RAm and a good enough video card.

    b) That you're willing to do some tweaking

    c) That you accept it will have problems.

Frankly, I advise people to try Linux Ubuntu, but I accept that some people want a familiar environment with games and ability to run old software.

  3. You Should be able to upgrade vista running the disk from your windows XP destop. If your looking for a fresh install then place the disk in and restart your computer.

Your computer should read the cd and ask boot from cd click any key

Then you will begin running the installation. It will say looking for a previous version onf windows installation.

Click on that partition and click on delete

Asks are you sure you want to delete click yes

then you will have free space available.

click on the free space and then cick on click on install format NTFS Quick format and then it will begin the installation of vista

    Hopes this helps
