I want to go shopping with some friends of mine tomorrow. I will have about 50 bucks to spend. Should I shop till I drop or save? I need some tips on good spending and good saving. I don't want to buy the mall out, but I don't want to end up coming home with some earrings or a necklace and thats it or nothing at all.

  1. Have a good look around, but don't buy until you are certain you need the item and have compared prices.

Do a yahoo or google search for "savings ideas".  Lots of good sites pop up.

  2. When you find something you want, ask the clerk if they can hold it for 24 hours.  Most stores will do this for free.  If you don't come back within that timeframe, they put the item back on the rack.

Continue through the mall picking out only items you really like.  Make a list along the way with the item, its price and why you like it or what you are going to do with it.

Then go sit down with your group and have a nice visit.  Take a few minutes to look over your list and make your decisions what to buy and what to pass on.  Remember, any money you don't spend can be used on the next trip or for another purpose.

Impulsive buying usually doesn't result in meaningful purchases.  Get value from the money you spend.

One more tip:  before you leave home jot down some items you want to consider to fill in your wardrobe.  If there is something you want to match, wear it that day.
