I'm looking for a 5.1 channel surround sound system for no more than $300 (will bend if it's extremely nice or an amazing deal).

Right now my top choice is the Onkyo HTSR600 (second choice was the Onkyo HT-SR700S), though that doesn't have a CD/DVD player or iPod dock, and no HDMI. DVD player is not necessary, the whole DVD upconversion fad is a wad of c**p, but a CD player would be nice.

Ipod dock would be good as well, though I can always but it separately. I have a 42" plasma and a PS3 and plenty of Blu-Rays so I want some good sound.

HDMI also not a necessity, but it would be nice. I could always go optical audio.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. hi

have the PHILIPS 2.1 AMBIENT SOUND FIDELITY SURROUND SOUND HOME THEATER SYSTEM HTS6600 http://www.thegreatguys.com/servlet/the-...

  2. If you really want a great picture, you should do HDMI! To hear EVERYTHING BluRay has to offer - you need HDMI 1.3a.  Onkyo HT-SR605 is a great HDMI 1.3a receiver - if you "bend", you should be able to find it under $400
