  1. Usually this means

    2((3x-1)^2)

    2(6x^2 - 6x + 1)

    12x^2 - 12x + 2

  2. 2(3x-1)^2

    square the parentheses

    2(9x²-6x+1)

    multiply by two

    18x²-12x+2

  3. Delta has it correct.

First you square (3x-1) and then multiply that answer by 2. Thus leaving you with an answer of 18x^2 -12x+2.

    (3x-1)(3x-1) = 9x^2-6x+1

    2(9x^2-6x+1) = 18^2-12x+2.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Yes, you do square the entire expression inside the parentheses:

    2(3x - 1)^2 = 2*(9x^2 - 6x + 1) = 18x^2 - 12x + 2.

  6. Yes the whole parenthesis gets squared.
