I need help taking care of a baby rabbit?

Last night a huge cat attacked a baby rabbit in my backyard, their nest was near my deck but he was the last one left. My cousin found the cat with the baby rabbit in it's mouth and luckily my cousin scared the cat away and the rabbit is still alive. We are planning on taking it to the vet today, because we believe its leg is broken. What can we feed the rabbit until later on today?

  1. Most important is to keep her calm and warm (not hot).  You think her leg is broken or ??  and plan to take her to a vet today , I'd ask the vet what he/she recommends you do while waiting for the appointment..Mama's only feed them at night and once in the day, she won't starve in a day, but  make sure she's not dehydrated, is the tummy round and plump or sunken?  pinch a bit of skin on the back of her neck, does it spring back or stay up ?  if it stays up, she needs to go to the vet immediately ,   You said the bunny was in a nest, so I'm assuming it is quite young.. eyes open ??  is it a wild bunny? where is the mama?  talk with your vet about what to do if you plan to try to raise her yourself.. Good luck :-)

  2. I'm not sure on the food, but make sure you let her feel safe and hold her all day long. Rabbits need a companion and a friend and quite frankly she's pretty scared right now.

  3. Kitten supliment mixed with heavy whipping cream. I just whent to the vet to help with my baby hamsters and she said taht for all young baby rodents they need alot of fat (in the milk) and if you mix heavy whipping cream with the kitten or even puppy milk taht will work :) GOOD LUCK!!

  4. You should keep it warm and comfortable so it feels safe, what i would reccomend for feeding is to go to the nearest pet shop and ask what they would reccomend for it, i think you could try kitten milk for very young kittens, most pet shops have that.

    Gl! hope this helps B=•B

  5. feed it KMR kitten milk replacer once before you take it to the vet, also try to give some water so it doesn't get dehydrated.  Just make sure you space out the water and the feeding.

  6. Well they need lots of water and if you dont have a water dispenser you could just put it in a bowl right near it or a bottle and feed it to it while holding the rabbit like a football. First off, I am in love with rabbits so much and this makes me extremely happy to know that a rabbit was saved! You guys are great heroes! Secondly make sure you put him in a box (no lid!) with a blanket since you dont have sheddings yet. He will probably urinate or p**p on the towel (sry lol) but these are the facts so just make sure its not one of your nicer blankets/towels! Watch him a lot and make sure that his eyes are open (rabbits eyes usually dont close when they are sleeping because they have 4 different eyelids) I really hoped this helped and I would love to answer any more questions of yours anytime!

For what to feed him, well if its a baby or under 3 months of age then you shouldnt feed him fruits or vegetables because they aren't old enough to digest those kinds of foods. I would feed him some grass and leaves from your backyard or spinach from your fridge. They love leafy greens! And tell me what happened with his leg sometime! I would love to talk!

  7. Feed it just little bits of lettuce, little bits of celerie, little bits of carrots etc. I say little because a lot of that stuff, and form day to day can give in indigestion. If you plan on keeping it, you'll need to buy regular bunny food.
