  1. Go to your county offices of public assistance and see what they have to offer.

  2. Wow, I can't beleive the grandmother took only two of the kids! That is astonishing to me... Does she not recognize the impact of that? But I commend you for stepping up.

Check with social services and see what they can do to help you. Also, there may be a church organization that can help you to do this as well.

    Good luck.

  3. In PA you can get all types of state aid to help with her care.

Medical, food stamps, for younger children day care help, .  I would assume she is some type of foster care system?  If so talk to her caseworker she will really be able to help you out.  I know they will also help with clothing allowances every so often too.  God bless you for wanting to help her.   Make sure you apply for lunch assistance at school also.  One school in our area offers free lunches every day during the summer.  Her caseworker if she has one can also help with things like summer camps funded thru United Way so she has something to do in the summer and they can be free also.  Girls this age go thru growths spurts alot, so maybe you c an look into church clothing giveaways or talk to some friends with slightly older kids and explain you situation they might have extra stuff for you.   you can always find dressers and beds at garage sales and salvation army.    If you have other family may I suggest throwing a small "welcome to your forever home" get together.  She would probaly get things she could use.   The most important thing is that she is wanted and loved and knows she has a permant home to go to.

  4. I honestly don't know what to do!

Would either state help you?  Does your disability prevent you from being able to raise a child??

My heart goes out to you for wanting to help your niece and I hope and pray that it works out!

Do you have the name of the people who will be working on her adoption?   If I were you those are the people I would contact immediately.  I would explain who I am and why I want to adopt the child.  I would be honest about my living situation and ask if that would work against me and if so, what are ways to avoid my situation working against me.

There's got to be a way.  At least that is a start.

I hope you don't mind, I will be praying for you, your niece and the rest of your family! :)

  5. you should be able to get other forms of state aid...for medical and schooling and food. Look into some of your state laws and see what all youre entitled to. I know its different in each state but some states give you certain compensation money for adopting. Check it out and try to find some adoptive parents in your state that you can talk with to get an idea about what you can do
