I'm going to stay in Paris for at least 3 or 4 days this summer. This is my first time in Paris, France and I want to make the most of it . Do anyone know any places with great food and any nice hotels that aren't to pricey?

P.S. By the way if anyone know of places that are great to hang out to get the full Paris, France experience feel free to leave an answer!

  1. I've been staying in the same hotel in Paris for over 30 years. Its cheap, friendly, extraordinarily located and very Parisian. Its also simple and not anything at all like a Holiday Inn. No TVs, no minibars and no elevator but I love it. I hope you will too. You can check it out here: http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75006...

Great food is amazingly common in Paris and you don't have to go to fancy Michelin 3 stars to find it.  Some places I like are: (the number in parenthesis is the arrondissement)

Le Divin 41, rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie (4th) Crowded, convivial and almost tourist free. There tend to be a lot of g**s here if that bothers you.

Chantairelle  17 rue Laplace (5th) Its by the Pantheon. They do a great Potee which is a braised cabbage and potato dish with sausage, and various cuts of fresh and salted pork.  from the region of Auvergne.

La Brouette 39-41 Rue Descartes (5th) All you can eat Fondue Bourguinonne for 20.90 Euros! A great deal!

Le Luco 107 Boulevard Saint Michel (5th) Just south of the Luxembourg. Check out their website (in english) : http://www.le-luco.com/english.htm

For a nice place to hang out I suggest Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galand in the 5th arr.

They have a piano player and various singers (I sing there when I'm in Paris) who do everything from bits of Opera to Jazz to pop standards.

The crowd is a mix of locals and tourists and people of every age group and is very friendly.

They have decent food at reasonable prices or you can just have a glass of wine and hang out.

Down in the basement there is a nightclub scene that is something that hasn't been seen in the USA since Sinatra and the Rat Pack played the Sands in Vegas.

If you go there you'll see 3 or 4 old guys drinking at the bar. They are there every nite and are not French but Greek. Say hello and I bet one of them will buy you a drink. The owner, by the way,  is Tony Wu. He's Chinese and a fan of Italian Opera. I hope that gives you a picture of the place. Give it a try.

  2. Paris is the capital city of France. It is situated on the River Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region ("Region Parisienne"). Paris has an estimated population of 2,153,600 within city limits (2005 est.). The Paris urban area has a population of 9.93 million; a vast commuter belt around the same completes the Paris "aire urbaine" (roughly: "metropolitan area") that, with its population of 11.5 million, is one of the most populated areas of its kind in Europe.

  3. Just don't mention anything about WW II.
