the second andle of the triangle is three times as large as the first. The third angle is 30 degrees more that the first. Find the measure of each angle.

  1. You know the total for all three angles is 180 degrees, right?  Then write an equation, adding the three angles and equalling 180. The first angle will just be x, since it isn't expressed in relation to anything else.  The second angle is 3x.  The third angle is x + 30.

    So: x + 3x + (x + 30) = 180

    5x + 30 = 180

    5x = 180 - 30 = 150

    x = 150/5 = 30 degrees

    You figure the other two now.  Very standard triangle.

    Fun, huh?
