  1. epithelial cells    epi  means outermost layer thelial is a membrane

abnormality could mean a number of things

    atypical is abnormal  squamous-scaly

coccobacili-bacterial infection and flora describes normal vaginal components

  2. Epithelial cells is just another name for the cells.... so it sounds like there may be a change in the cells... but then the Atypical means that they can't tell if they are normal cells or abnormal... so you will probably need to have a repeat test in 6 months to see if the cells are changing or if they are normal. Also the predominance of coccobacili... may be suggestive of Bacterial Vaginosis...BV is just an inflammation that occurs in the v****a that can be treated with antibiotics.

This Website has more information about Pap test results and will explain it in more detail.

  3. Here is a web site that should help you out.   Your doctor should be more than willing to discuss these results with you.  The fact that he didn't, would worry me, especially if those were your results!  If I were you, when I get up tomorrow I would be finding a new doctor and getting another test done, as bad as they are!!

  4. Abnormal pap smear usually means you have HPV
