I need help trying to figure out if its really a scam or misunderstanding!

Question

ok today in the mail came a package to my house... and it said my name on it (ok im a 19yr male and i hate cooking ) the package contained a few cookbooks from RACHEL RAYS family cookbook and it said on the bill that i have to pay and that i owe 9 dollars and 73 cents

the company that sent this was .

I NEVER ORDERED THIS d**n BOOK

SO what do i have to do to get rid of this problem?

IS IT A SCAM? OR a Misunderstanding on their part?

It says i made the account with them on August 1 ,2008

why da h**l are there so many evil people in the world?

Yep, call them up tell them you didn't order them and you're sending them back.  If you keep the books, you'll have to pay the $10 which sounds like a GREAT deal, BUT you'll also be agreeing to purchase 6-8 books from them at full price within the next 2-3 years.  And shipping ALONE on each book is $4.95, plus the books run from $14-$50.

Some "friend" of yours signed you up for a bookclub.  Book clubs are EXPENSIVE and have purchase requirements over the next 2 years.

Call the company and state that you received the package and have never heard of them and how do you return the books.

send the books back with a letter describing the problem and. tell them to terminate the account that was setup in your name, also make it known that any further books sent to your address will be considered complimentary copies and no recompense will be forthcoming. Keep a copy of the letter and if they continue sending you books, send a nice thankyou note along with the copy of the initial letter.

There's no " scam " just your not paying attention to the monthly offers; the book club runs these as the special of the month. You did not send the notice saying you did not want the book.

These are not evil people, you need a better understanding of what you've gotten yourself into..

So, send back the book, next time pay more attention rather than thinking evil people, there are more good.
