I need help understanding my algebra homework, PLEASE HELP.?

Question

so we're adding, subtracting, multiplying, & dividing real numbers.

can someone please explain the following:

how do you add real numbers?

how do you subtract real numbers?

how do you multiply real numbers?

how to you divide real numbers?

some examples would be very helpful, thank you in advance.

Hm... I’m not very sure how to explain in words, but I’ll do my best. For addition and subtraction, the terms can only be added or subtracted with like terms. For example:

x + x + y – x + 2y = x + 3y

However, for multiplication, the terms do not matter. For example:

y x h x h x y / y = ysquare hsquare.

This might not be very clear to you, sorry!

Sounds like you are asking for a definition of arithmetic.  If you are in algebra, you should know how toi do arithmetic.
