  1. It depends. If you are front right side, for offense you neet to be at the net, for dense back up to the 10-foot line if  you see that the hitter from the other team is spiking, or go to the net and block, but usually, two players block while the other one cuts the 10-foot line in case you get a tip. You switch when the ball goes over the net to the opponents side. For back row, ir you are at the left or right, stay short, and in the middle, stay deep. Watch out for the weak side too!

  2. Typically you line up with 3 people on the front line (up to the net) and 3 people back.  The people at the net are your offensive players & blockers.  The people in the back are your defensive / passing players.  You are do a some rotating from there, but that is the very simplied way.  If you want a little more detail - You have a middle hitter (2 of them), outside hitter (2 of them), setter and off-hand hitter (or 2nd setter).  You will line up so that the middle hitters are opposite of each other in the rotation.  That way when one is up front, the other is in the back and the same goes for the other positions.

    Hope that helps some.

  3. It depends on what position you are.. look!

    ______

    Q  Y  E

    R  T  G

    (E is setter)

kk i play G and if we get the ball first, I serve first..

When we dont, Y moves to the right and stands by E. so that when E (setter) moves by the net, there will be no open spots.

    ______

    Q     yE

         T

    R       G

    -the ball goes over-

    ______

         E

    Q       Y

          T

    R        G

*bump set spike* the ball lands on the ground... its E's turn to serve according to rotation. Q,T and Y goes to the net.

    _______

       QTY

    R         G

    _______

          E

so yah. juss rotate and when u guys serve, the 3 ppl in the front must go to the net, getting ready to block. jus try to cover most of the open spots and try not to dro the ball.

  4. Look online, and watch film.  You can tell who is who by where the setter is.  When you watch...keep your eye on ONE PLAYER ONLY....and of course who her opposit player is.  It can get confusing but ask your coach your system (5-1 with only 1 setter and their opposite being a right side) or (6-2 meaning there are 2 setters...this means that the setter will ALWAYS be back row and there will be 3 hitters at all times.  The setter in the back row sets...their opposite which would be in the front row hits on the right side).

Once you know what system have your coach draw it out for you...learn YOUR position first.  It´s not confusing until you try and memorize everyone else´s spots at the same time.  Best of luck!

  5. This all depends on the type of rotation your team is running and what your position is (back row, hitter, setter)

    5-1 (single setter, full rotation)

4-2 (setter subs out when going to the front row)

    6-2

    checkout this link:

it has all the different rotations and where to move and all that stuff.

  6. Um well if you played for an organized team you should have a coach that tells you what position you are. When on defense to have a great position you should look at where the hitter on the other team is facing. Look at her hand/arm.  If you do, and you're playing back row you should easily be able to tell where the ball will go.
