I need help wid blending in 2 pictures together as one?

omgg this Gimp software is confusing meee!! ok so im using Gimp software that i just downloaded today. and i guess this software is the best one to do blending wid it.

and im trying to make the pictures like this one..click on the link or copy or paste it. and see what im trying to do...
