  1. First of all, a one gallon tank is not big enough for 2-4 of these fish. You should have about a gallon for each fish. Try a five gallon or even a ten gallon, and they do require a heater. platies and danios are tropical fish,  anything less than 72 degrees would be too cold for them and they would not live their lives as long as they would normally. if you already have the tank, i would reccomend just getting some goldfish or fancy goldfish. Otherwise get a 4-10 gallon tank with a heater that is set between 72 and 82 degrees.

I'm not exactly sure how long they will last, i'm guessing a few years, depending on how old they are when you purchase them.

  2. no

that tank is too small for anything

get a 20 gallon a heater and 6 tropical danios and 1-6 platies

or a 12 gallon tank with 6 coldwater zebra danios

coldwater zebra danios have been bred in coldwater so do not buy tropical danios for a coldwater tank and vice versa

    platties are tropical

zebra danios need to school in groups of 6+

  3. you need a heater with a thermostat please!!!! and do some research you will probably have too many fish in that tank

  4. No, for a freshwater aquarium 2-4 fish need a 5-10 gallon. Otherwise, tank agression forms and the more stressed your fish are, the more they do not build a slime coating and the quicker they can die.

All fish need a tank around 65-85 degrees, unless they are absolute bottom dwellers. I would recommend a heater, it'll make your fish less stressed.

As I said, get a bigger tank than a one gallon, they will last a good, long time. If you only have room for a 1 gallon, get ONE male betta, he'll thrive.
