I need help wiring central AC Dual Capacitor correctly.

I have yellow rom T-`23 to Herm

Yellow from Fan motor to Herm

Blue from Compressor motor to C

Brown wire from fan motor to fan

Brown stripe wire from fan motor taped off and not used

Black wire from fan motor to T21

I am worried because although it runs and blows air from top of unit, later on it was blowing air from the sides and not the top and didn't seem to be coolong all that much. Fan was extremely hot.

  1. yellow from the compressor (R or run terminal) should go to T23 on contactor.

Blue from compressor is the start winding and should go to HERM on the capacitor.

Black on compressor should go to T21 on the contactor.

Yellow from fan motor should go to C on the run capacitor.

Brown should go to Fan on the capacitor.

Black from fan motor to T21 on contactor

There should be a yellow jumper also that goes from T23 on contactor to C on the capacitor.

Sounds like you have a few of the wires incorrect now.

The wiring diagram behind the control cover should verify the wiring connections.

  2. Just remember a run capacitor is always between the run and the start winding no matter what and you cannot go wrong.A dual justs appears harder at first till you stop and think about it electrically but it's really no harder than a single capacitor for a fan.Good luck.

  3. You need a service tech. Why are you disconnecting fan wires? Could be problem in circuit board, if you have one. To continue like this will ruin fan motor and cost a lot more.

  4. Your compressor has 3 wires. Start run and common S,R,C.

S wire on the compressor goes to the capacitor terminal marked HERM(hermetically sealed compressor). C should go to C(common)on the capacitor. R(run) goes to the Magnetic Contactor.

Your fan motor has 4 wires. The plain brown wire from the motor goes to F(fan) The brown wire with the white stripe should go to C(common). The blue wire should be taped off. The black wire goes to the magnetic contactor. Most new motors come with their own capacitor that is specifically rated for that new motor. In that case you would only need to connect brown and brown w/white stripe to it. Then you would connect black to the magnetic contactor and blue goes to C(common) on the dual capacitor.
