  1. I'm not doing this for points, okeys?

    Just trying to help out.

    21x + 6 = 17x - 26

    First, you want to get all of the "x" on one side, right?

    So you bring [17x] to the right side.

    Now, [17x] is a positive number, so what happens when you take it to the other side?  It becomes a negative number! :P

    So that would mean: 21x - 17x + 6 = -26

    If you do the subtraction, it would end up being: 4x + 6 = -26

    Now, you want to get rid of the [6] on the left side of the equal sign, so what do you do?

    You subtract [6] from both sides! :P

    4x + 6 - 6 = -26 - 6

    You know how to do negative addition/subtraction, right?

    4x = -32

    Then, you're looking for the value of [x], not [4x], so you have to divide it by 4!

    That would be x = (-32)/4

    x = -8

    The thing is to understand what you're doing :) It doesn't matter if you get the answer wrong; what matters is that you understand.

  2. 21x+6=17x-26

    21x - 17x + 6 = -26

    4x + 6 = -26

    4x = -26 - 6

    4x = -32

    x = -8 = Final Answer
