Okay, im totally confused. I THINK I get it, but im not really sure. I need to write an algebraic exuation.

Here is an examp:

The sum of a price, p, and the sales tax, t.

Would it be p+t?? Could it be that simple??

Okay, my next question is review. My brain is still on summer vacation, so im not sure if I really remeber...

If r + 10; t =4 would the answer be 46?? Thanks guys!! :]

  1. d**n thats hard. I hate math...haha sorry I am a college senior too.

  2. It is that simple.

    Price + tax = total amount you have to pay

    that is the sum of p and t (if t is an amount of money)

    if t is a fraction or a decimal like 8% or .08 then you'd do

    total = price + price times tax

    or

    total = price times (1 + tax)

    For the second problem, there isn't enough information. What is the question even?

    Oh, OK.

    t=4

    9t + 10 = 46

    what's the r + 10 for?

  3. sales tax is a fraction of the price so it would be

    Cost=Price+Price*Tax

    9*4=36 and 36 +10 is 46 so yeah thats right

  4. what they said

  5. it is p+ t, but 10 plus 4 is 14

  6. ok, with the additional details, its right, but i still dont no why you accident put r in

  7. yep--p + t--It really is that simple.  However, I don't understand your second question.  Where did "r" come from?  Is the "t" still tax?
