Question:

I need help with Adobe Flash Player and Internet Explorer 7?

I am taking a math class on coursecompass.com which requires Adobe Flash Player. Although the flash player is installed, it won't work on this website (no one else in the class is having this problem). My computer runs Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7. When I try to do math problems, I get a message saying that I do not have the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player with a link to get it. I download the player and get a message that it has been successfully installed.

I have uninstalled the player using flash uninstaller program and reinstalled. I have turned off popup blockers and virus protection. I have changed my internet security settings to enable all active x functions. I have removed all toolbars and enabled active x in "manage add ons". I even uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 and downloaded version 6 - still won't work. I can't think of anything else to try. I have used this website (coursecompass) before with no problems whatsoever. This is a new computer, however, so it must be a security setting of some sort; I just can't figure it out.

To enhance the problem, I tried to run this math class on my daughter's computer which runs Windows Vista and it won't work on hers either. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

  1. Adobe does not seem to like us all.

You need these troubleshooting sites to uninstall and reinstall flash player.

  2. I would suggest you run the online scanner at secunia.com and make sure there are no older versions of Flash player hanging around in your \windows\system32\macromedia folder.  Pick the complete scan that checks in non-traditional locations for older, insecure versions.

Make sure you have the latest Java update.  See link 1.

Have you tried Firefox?  See link 2.  If you install Firefox, you will need to go to www.adobe.com and download the Flash player while using Firefox browser.
