open your B/W photo up in photoshop and change the mode by going to IMAGE<MODE<CMYK.

you can use any photo shop,

Adobe - Photoshop CS3

open image,

duplicate layer,

desaturate layer,

erase items,

save as psd file and save as jpg for web use,

to add new colour over black and white image,

open image, desaturate (lower saturation of color)

create new layer,

paint over items,

adjust layer mode to overlay,

adjust transparency as well,
