I have a 01 Nomad that has sat the last year and a half and the gas has went bad. I had stabil in the gas but i guess it still went bad. I need to talk to someone who has worked on one. Should i try and clean the parts myself or just take it somewhere.

  1. If you can get the bike to start you may be able to get away with just adding 1/2 a bottle of octane booster to a full tank of new gas.  I saw this trick in the ask an expert (actually ask the geek) section of a magazine and it stuck with me.  I have an older bike which I rarely use and let the gas become about 2 years old in (w/stabil) and it worked.  It ran abit rough until the detergents in the octane booster cleaned out the carbs, but hey it worked.   Way easier than messing with the carbs, it may be worth a shot for you too.

  2. If Mushki's solution works you're home free. If not I would say remove the carbs and have then cleaned by a company that cleans carburettors. Thus may not be the dealer. Too many dealers have more smoke than fire. In short they will spray can clean them and tell you they were "cleaned". You want them dipped and soaked. Good luck. I think the Nomad is the best bike for the money on the road.
