my six year old cat just started having diarrhea, and it just stopped the other day, I figured it was just a virus type thing. Now she's following me around, trying not to sit on her rear end, and meows as if in pain, she's picking at it, like l*****g it, and even when she's not following me, you can tell she's in pain, always moving and never able to be comfortable. I really need help with this. Please let me know if you know what's wrong, and should I take her to a vet? Oh, and her tail was taken off last year from a dog bite... don't know if that's important to this or not... Thanks.

  1. It's possible her anal glands are compacted. Maybe when she had diarrhea, the skin around/ on her a**s became raw. I recommend taking her to a veterinarian.

  2. My kitten had diarrhea for a couple of days, but was fine otherwise. I read up on it on this site:

    http://www.petplace.com/cats/acute-diarr...

hope this helps you make your decision.

  3. well she is not comfortable and that's not any fun. what maybe is an infection and I guess the vet is really what you should do. good luck

  4. I would definitely take her to the vet. Is she eating and drinking? And now that the diarrhea has stopped, is she having solid p**p? There are a few things that could be bothering her, but the bottom line is that, anytime your cat is in pain it needs to be fixed asap. They like to hide their discomforts, so if they're making it known, it's progressed pretty far. My cat had a similar problem and we put off going and it turned out to be a tumor - but he was 18, so I don't think it's extremely likely your cat has that problem. The point is, if it is something serious, it's better to catch it faster so you can treat it before it gets worse. Hope this helps.
