My fridge (only a couple yrs old) started making an odd "run, click, stop" noise and stopped cooling. Lost all contents. Cleaned it out and followed instructions on how to reset. Started it up again... let it do it's thing and cool down again. Worked great for about 4 hours... then "run, click, stop". From what I’m reading on the web… maybe compressor… it did get hot. Just need this thing to work for a couple more months. Does anyone have advice, references, ideas?

  1. It's not your compressor that is bad, It is the start relay on the compressor that is bad... LG has had problems with this for awhile now... It's a simple fix, and not that exspensive either...

  2. Sounds like the compressor is not starting.

Could need a current relay, used to energize and de-energize the compressor start windings or maybe a starting capacitor added would take care of a weak or sticking compressor.

Either way you need a tech to diagnose.

  3. ITS CALLED THE CYCLE TIMER GET THE MOD#&SN AND GOTO SEARS AND GET ONE

  4. your LG frige should have a 7 year part warranty on the compressor,  down fall is you still have to pay the labor and trip charge,  the compressor might be over heating, check to make sure the fan located by the compressor is running when the frige is plugged in,  it could also be a board problem,  all the LG refriges use circuit boards to control the compressor start and stop...but I would check the fan by the compressor first

  5. I just purchased a new washer/dryer & read about this website:  fixitnow.com.  Found it vvery helpful and I think you will as well.

    Good luck.
