  1. So, what you're going to play is all on the 3rd string, one at a time. The numbers indicate what FRET you place a finger on. Tab doesn't tell you what fingers to use for notes and chords, you have to figure this out yourself.

The / means slide. After you play 2 with your index finger (make sure the note rings), slide with the same finger to the 4th fret.

    "0" means open string.

  2. the 0 means that u only have to play that string without a note

  3. To play that tab you would start on the G string. Which would be the thrid string down from your smallest highest string.

You'd start at the second fret, pick the string and while its still reverberating slide your finger on the string own the the fourth fret. Slides are a little hard to do at first but they are very fun to me and sound good.

Next you'll put a finger on the fourth fret of the same string and pick it three times. Then your finger goes on the second fret of the G string and pick it once.

Now remove your finger from that string completely but still pick it. The 0 means open. You just hit the pure string for that note.

do that five times then move on to your finger on the second fret and after on the fourth.

Its not a dumb question. I was confused the first time I saw it. And I still find tabs that confuse me. Honestly I'm not to sure where to find beginer tabs. I pretty much just started out looking up the tabs to songs I like and trying to  play them. lol. The first song I ever learned to play was 'Half Right' by elliott Smith. I think for begginers fingerpicking songs are a tad easier than mainly strumming songs because of the difficulties in strumming patterns. Just look around. And maybe get a nice little book on teaching yourself guitar. I did and it really helps.

Cheers, best of luck on all that. Guitar is an amazing instrument and life and I really hope you find you love it.

  4. ok well all this is,is play the second fret of the G string then slide down to the fourth fret of the G string but make sure your still pressing down the second fret while your sliding on to the fourth fret oh and the 0 just means you play it with out pressing any frets just play the string

  5. Yeah, 0 means you pluck the string while it's open. The other numbers are the numbers of the frets to put your fingers on while plucking. You can get some great beginners books at any local music shop for a few bucks. My favorite was the Ernie Ball beginning book, I think that's what it's called.

  6. i totally understand i am still and beginner but i know a bit.

the 0 means open note so you just pluck the string without any fingers on any fret of that string.

that / bar means slide, so you pluck the g string and 2nd fret then keep your finger on that string and slide it down the fretboard until you hit the 4th fret

    you can go to

    www.ulitmate-guitar.com

    its my favorite tab site

just go there and at the very top click lessons and you can learn from others on how to start playing tab
