  1. Try making a mixture of 3/4 sugar and 1/4 boric acid and water. Make it like thick syrup. Pour onto a few small cotton balls and place them in the usual spots.  Ants wil be lured by the sugar, and be killed by the boric acid.  Kewl.

  2. The problem is probably has more to do with how you are spraying, and not what you're using.  First you need to establish a perimiter.  Spray every inch of your foundation from the ground up to 2' from the ground, all around.  Don't leave any holes in this ring around your house, the ants will find it.  Spray all around basement windows, etc.  Also look for trees/bushes/whatever leaning against the house, these can be used as ladders/bridges over your perimiter.  Trim them so that there is no way for an ant to get in your house except by going through the sprayed perimiter.

That often takes care of it by itself, but if the nest is inside the house or you missed something in your perimiter, you may also need to use bait insecticide that the ants will carry back to the nest.

  3. boric acid, dollar general store $2.50,it's in a squeeze type container and it is a light powder good luck

  4. Grants ant stakes! omg! they are the best ever

Buy enough to put at each corner of the house (INSIDE AND OUT),under sinks and in areas were you see trails.

  5. Do not allow any wood - firewood, yard debris or foundations - to remain in contact with the soil. Damp wood provides a habitat for carpenter ants. Trim tree branches and shrubs away from buildings.

Use bait to destroy nests. For an entire colony to be destroyed, ant bait must be slow-acting. Some of the chemicals that are effective in baits are hydramethylnon, boric acid and fipronil. Baits will work only if there is no other food source nearby.

Fix plumbing leaks. Remove food sources. Store food in clean, closed containers. Store garbage outdoors in sealed containers.

Move outdoor trash and recycling bins as far from your home as possible.

Remove pools of standing water. Ants get thirsty too.

Sprinkle powdered red chili pepper, paprika, dried peppermint or borax on ant trails, in cracks and near entryways to deter them from moving in.

Rid your garden of aphids, whiteflies and mealybugs. These sap-feeding insects excrete "honeydew," a sugary favorite of ants.

Spray or paint sticky barriers made out of tanglefoot products on plants and trees. These barriers prevent ants from climbing up stems and trunks to feed.

Create liquid bait by mixing 1 tsp. boric acid with 2 1/2 fluid oz. corn syrup or honey. Heat until the boric acid dissolves. In an eyedropper, add equal amounts of water and solution to drop in places ants frequent for 2 weeks.

Make a natural repellent of citrus peelings and water in a blender and pour it over the anthill.

Drown out ants by pouring boiling water over the mounds and into the cracks where they dwell. Roughly 3 gallons of water per mound ought to do the trick.

    Hope that helps.
