I need help with a set of Altec Landsing speakers.?

Question

Out of nowhere my speakers appear to not opperate with my computer. They did not come with a installation disc and everytime I replug them in I have to go through the "new audio device" pop-up. When I go to automatic installation nothing seems to work. I know the speakers are good and on and still I have nothing. Can anyone give me some ideas on what to do besides buy a new set?

I believe it's because of your sound card isn't properly installed rather than speaker problem. To use external speaker, it's not necessary to have installation disk. As long your sound card is ok, when you plug in the speaker, it should work
