I am 13 years old. I am planning on auditioning for the sound of music in my local theatre but I am not sure what song to sing. I have been thinking about singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow but does anyone have any other ideas of a song I can sing at the audition??? Thanks a ton!

  1. I think you should sing, true colors, Cyndi Lauper. best of luck

  2. Sing something from "The Sound of Music" matching the part you want to play.  e.g. Elizabeth = 2 songs.

    Peace.

  3. The Sun will come out Tomorrow from the musical Annie

  4. Unless it's  very small theater that doesn't care what you sing, DON'T sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  It is considerd a Muiscal theater faux pas- the song "belongs" to Judy Garland.

do you know any other older songs, especialy other R&H songs?  Like... "Whistle a Happy Tune" from The King and I, or "People will Say We're in Love" from Oklahoma, or "I'm in Love with a Wonderful Guy" from South Pacific...

    ?

  5. While Somewhere Over The Rainbow is a lovely song, it's not ideal for a Sound of Music audition.  As already suggested, another Rogers and Hammerstein song is a good idea - maybe "My Own Little Corner" from Cinderella, or "Out of My Dreams" from Oklahoma.  I presume you're auditioning for Louisa or Brigitta?

  6. i think u should sing true friends or life is what u make it both r 4 hannah mintana
