I need help with a sony handy cam DCR-TRV340 NTSC.?

Question

I tried to record on a blank tape and it would not record but the red light shows and the sony memory chip that came with the camera wont take pictures anymore, I get an error code that says invalid memory chip... I just bought it a year ago and it is little used. I cant find any websites to troubleshoot it and being in China I cant take it to the repair shop.

Please help, what do I do?

Clean vcam heads w/ head cleaner; try to format flash media. Warning: your digi-8 vcam model might not support high capacity and hi-speed memory stick.
