C7H6O3 + C4H6O3 (yield with H2SO4) --> C2H4O2

...are 1:1, if you start with 14.00 grams of salicylic acid and excess acetic anhydride, how many grams of acetylsalicylic acid can you make?

  1. Moles salicylic acid = 14.0 g / 138.123 g/mol =0.101

    the ratio is 1 : 1

    Moles acetylsalicylic acid = 0.101 mol x 180.160 g/mol = 18.3 g
