  1. The amount of Earth's surface covered by oceans and seas is 1/3 + 11/30 = 10/30 + 11/30 = 21/30 = 7/10. So 3/10 of the surface is land. Percentages are out of a hundred, so 3/10 = 3/10*10/10 = 30/100 = 30%.

ANSWER: 30% of Earth's surface is covered by land.

  2. 11/30+1/3=11/30+10/30=21/30

21/30 is water so rest is land

    so

30/30 is total water and land now minus the water and you get land

    30/30-21/30=9/30

9/30 is land now convert to percent

    9/30=30 %

  3. x = 1 - 1/3 - 11/30

    = 30/30 - 10/30 - 11/30

    = 9/30
