  1. It's a sweet idea to host a shower for your friend. Talk to the other bridesmaids, and plan out a nice party that you can all afford to host. Many people like to have wedding-themed games at showers, and it's generally expected that you serve some sort of food (whether it's tea and cakes or a full meal is up to you). Also, it's a nice idea as the host to help the bride open and sort gifts, and write down who gave what so she can write thank-you notes to the guests.

In terms of guests, have a chat with the bride-to-be about her wedding invite list. It's poor etiquette to invite people to the shower who aren't invited to the wedding, so you'll want to double check. Also, she'll have the guests' addresses handy, as she'll need them for sending out invitations.

Just so you're aware, while it's a nice idea for you to host the bridal shower, you're not technically obligated to throw one. If you can't afford to host a party, speak to the bride-to-be's family, and see if they're interested in helping you out.

  2. Well first as maid of honor your duty is to take care of everything. You are essentially the bride's 'second hand' and backup. For the bridal shower you need to plan everything from food to games to food and prizes and invitations. You can enlist help from the other bridesmaids when it comes to planning and paying.

At the bridal shower you should have centerpieces and other decorations, games, prizes for games, food, and a time for the bride to open gifts.

  3. pay for it. Talk with the bride and get a date first. Then have her register on the weddingchannel.com Then read an bridal etiquette book for ideas.
