I've got a project in which I need to cite my sources in MLA format. That's fine, as I can find out how to use MLA format on the internet, but I've encountered a problem.

For the first part, I've cited books I've read (checked out of the library), but I no longer have, therefore, I don't have the publishing date, location, company, and all of that mess, and I need to know how to find that information.

Also, I've cited works such as Macbeth (which I need to know how to find a source for such an old book), and Bioshock, a video game for the Xbox 360 (something in it's setting). How do I find the information for Macbeth, and how do I cite a video game? Luckily I don't have to include page numbers in my cites! :-)

Thank you ahead of time!

  1. You can find almost any book published in the U.S. in the Library of Congress online catalog. The listing will have everything you need to create a citation. It can be found here:

    http://catalog.loc.gov/

    Computer software or video game

Include the title, underlined or italicized, version number (if given), and publication information. If you are citing software that was downloaded, replace the publication information with the date of access and the URL, in angle brackets.

    Examples:

The Sims 2. Redwood City: Electronic Arts, 2004.

    Web Cache Illuminator. Vers. 4.02. 12 Nov. 2003 <>.http://www.tucows.com/adnload/332309_126...
