I'm looking to get a remote start for a 2006 Altima for my boyfriend but there are so many out there how do I choose the right one for the car. Are they all the same? Do they mess anything up with the wiring. I would like it to have the start along with the door lock and unlock button. Please help me out I'm very lost in my choice of making this a gift for him, and he has wanted one for some time. I thank everyone for there help.

  1. Your best bet is to get a Directed Electronics product. Python 990, Viper 5900 or Clifford Matrix 50.

The installation does not effect the wiring of your car in any way. The only wire that is actually cut is the starter wire for both the remote start pack and the kill start while the car is armed. Otherwise all the other wires the alarm uses are tied into the cars wiring.

Be sure to give the installer a key so that they can install the correct transponder pack. Most cars today use a transponder or chip in the key to prevent people from hot-wiring or shoving a s***w driver into the key slot to start the engine. Without the appropriate key, the engine will not start.
