I need help with community service...?

i am taking health over the summer and we need 5 hours of community service. i need some ideas to do. it cant be like too extream but something that would make me feel great about helping someone out.

please help me!!

Check into your local food bank service.  They are always needing volunteers.  Also you might try to find a senior citizen in your local neighborhood and see about doing some work for them, grocery shopping, yard work, house cleaning.  they can then write a letter verifying your assistance.  There is also summer program at libraries that may need volunteers to read to children.  there is a web site you can go to that will help you find other ideas.  Can't remember the site but google 'volunteering'  and then indicate your geographical location to find local area needs.

The Shoebox Project <www.shoeboxproject.org.googlepages.com> is something that is easy & fun that you can do anyplace.  If you got together with some of your classmates you could do a lot of good in your own community.  Good luck!

Hi Rachel....When I was teaching I found that my students LOVED to go to an area nursing home and visit with the residents. As they got older, they would help the nurses aides with simple tasks. Several of the students ended up in a health relate occupation through these visits.
