Like what I am trying to do is connect my electric guitar to the computer so that if i also plug in headphones i can hear the guitar much louder without anyone in the house hearing it. So like I want my computer to act as an amp, so I don't want to record and play it back to hear it, I want to hear it as I play, but since its late at night I don't want to wake up everyone so I need to use my computer. If anyone knows how to do this I would really appreciate directions.

  1. well... no...

but, assuming that you have an amp, it should have a input for headphones that have an end like the one your guitar-to-amp chord has. You can usually buy these at any music store. All you have to do is hook the headphones in and turn on the amp like you would normally (you might have to adjust the volume on the amp differently though) and the sound comes through the headphones rather than the amp. I have one myself, and it comes in handy when it's late at night (everyone's asleep) or if i'm practicing skills that aren't amusing to listen to (i usually get yelled at to turn it down) but yet i want to hear myself. I hope this helps!

oh and to your added details.... the headphones are REALLY cheap. i think i got mine for like less than $5 or something of that nature. Good luck.

  2. just use a real amp
