1. For the 2008-2009 award year which started July 1, 2008, if all answers for the following questions are NO, you need your parents 2007 tax info to apply for federal aid:

    1. Were you born before Jan 1 1985?

    2. Are you married?

    3. Do you have children who received 50% of their support from you?

    4. Were you ever a foster child or ward of court?

    5. Are you active duty or veteran of armed forces?

If you answered YES to any of those questions, you don't need your parents 2007 tax info and won't need their help to get the Stafford loans available to you this year.

There is a subsidized loan for $3500 and unsubsidized loan for up to $6000 you can receive from the government.

Check out SallieMae website for information on how loans work. Good luck to you!

  2. try prosper.com, it's a peer to peer lending site.

  3. Have you try to get a scholarship? Maybe you can try to go to

    it's about scholarships information.

    Good luck

  4. Certain student loans require a cosigner if the student or parent soliciting a loan does not meet minimum credit requirements to receive a loan. This applies to both private and some federal loans; the PLUS loans for graduate students, which can be received by parents or students, have minimum credit requirements, and in either case, parent or student can use a cosigner with good credit to sign on the loan<!--getting student loans without a cosigner is possible being a cosigner is a significant risk, as the cosigner will be responsible for any debt the borrower does not pay. The Stafford federal loans do not require a credit check or cosigner, and should be the first step in your search for college funding.

If you do not have any resource for receiving family assistance for attending college, you may qualify for financial aid, subsidized Stafford loans, or the subsidized Perkins loan, which is the hardest loan to attain but the best offer available. If you have a good credit rating-->lenders will offer you Prime interest rates on your student loans; if you have no credit or bad credit, they may ask that you have a cosigner. Ask at several different financial institutions what they can do to accommodate your education finance needs.Usually bad credit loans are given at a higher interest rate and/or with extra fees, but you can lower this number by calling different lenders and demanding the best possible rate.

  5. Fill out ur fafsa to see if you qualify for federal student loans or pell grants. Also, talk to your finacial aid counselor at ur school to see what other grants you can qualify for. If you live in Michigan you might qualify for the No Worker Left Behind Act....
