I am a 22F college student in GA and I live with my parents. I have the HOPE scholarship, which basically means that my parents do not have to pay for me to go to school. I live with them about 15 miles from my school. My parents are great but I really want to move out, but since I am in school full-time and I only have a part-time job I do not have enough money to move out of my house and my parents cannot afford to pay for me to rent a house or apartment. I was wondering if it is possible to get either a scholarship or grant that would help me pay for some type of housing even though I already have a scholarship and also, which one would I be able to get? I desperately need out of my house and I need the experience of living on my own especially b/c I did not go away to college, however, I know it will be difficult since I do not make much money. Does anyone have ANY ideas about loans/scholarships/grants, ANYTHING?!? Help please!! I don't know where to begin!

  1. Have you thought of getting a real job?

  2. I don't think there is any assistance available to help you move out of your parents' house unless the college student has something available for you to live on campus in the dorms.

Outside of that, have you thought about going in with a couple of friends and sharing the bills?

  3. ask your local librarian to point you in the direction of a compiled list of grant-giving foundations. I know that most states have programs to help 1st time home buyers with the down payment.

  4. I can send you 10 bucks.

I'll need a snail mail address.

  5. You can take out student loans. Since the HOPE scholarship pays for your tuition, you can take out subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans to pay for your housing. After I moved off campus, my aid that would have gone to paying for my dorm room was refunded to me. I used that to pay rent.

You must fill out a FAFSA in order to get Stafford and Perkins loans. If you do not qualify, you will have to get loans from private sources including your school and/or your bank. The financial aid adviser at your school can give you more information on loans.

  6. Fortunately, the internet has opened up a host of opportunities to obtain such loans. There are websites that specialize in just that. Furthermore, there are traditional lenders that offer an online application pathway<!--provides you with provisional acceptance depending upon your ability to prove your statements to the lender. This streamlines the lending process and gets rid of a lot of borrowing anxiety. If you meet specified criteria and can prove that you do, then you will definitely get the loan.

How to get a particular loan should only be one aspect of your research, the other (even more important) things you need to take into account are the terms and conditions of the loan, your ability to make the monthly-->payments and whether or not you will need to put up real estate as security.Once you have taken the time to ask yourself some searching questions and also get some reliable answers from lenders, you will be in a much better position to choose a loan.
