  1. The first thing you need to do is check out your state's laws:

Then you can go about choosing a curriculum.  High school students sometimes like to use online or text book programs.  At this age, you can complete most of the work on your own.  Here are some of your options:

Homeschooling is great academically.  Many colleges are now beginning to recruit homeschoolers.

I would suggest you look for a support group in your area.  That will give you an opportunity to have positive social experiences.

You seem like a sweet girl. I'm sorry you're having trouble, but things won't always be that way.

  2. Homeschooling at year 7 and up will be a challenge and probably won't achieve very high academic results. At this level and up kids need specialist teachers in every subject. A mother at home won't be able to cover them all to a satisfactory level (even with all the books and possibly help). If a private teacher is hired, same problem. The person cannot cover it all. Often a half-way solution is better. Stay in the public school system and pay a private tutor to help. Bullying problems can be solved by moving to a different school or getting parents to get the school to do something or take teh matter into your own hands by banding together a group of friends to fight back. Often bullies cannot handle a group of friends that stick together. By banding together and stand up for one another, you can actually make the bullies pay back. If you are a kind of loner, and you feel that you cannot form a group of friends to fight bullying, moving to a different school is the best approach.

One great thing you can try is to join a self-defence class learning martial arts. It's not about fighting. It's about training mental discipline and courage. Martial arts trainers always train the kids mentally. I think 2 months into martial-art training will make a huge change in all kids about bravery and physical skill. Apart from the ability to throw a knock out punch, the fierce look of a budding martial artist will scare most bullies away. Life is tough, but if don't stick up for ourselves, no one will. At year 7, it's a great place to start learning about self-defence then progress to team work and leadership.

  3. It depends on your state's laws, but even in the states with the most stringent regulations, it will be easy to get situated over the summer.

With easy states, she may not need to do anything (other than possibly un-enrolling you from your current school so they don't try to give you a hard time when you don't show up next year). With more regulated states, you may have to file a notice that you plan on homeschooling and a general education plan for the year...if you are in one of these states, you should definitely contact local homeschooling groups for advice on how to deal with the regs.

For the purposes of getting you ready for college (or other post-high school plans), you need to figure out what course of study you need to meet your goals. But you can do this in a number of ways: anything from online schooling to purchased curriculum to studying using free resources from the library or online...it's up to you. Again, talk to other homeschoolers in your area and I think it is good that you will have time to figure it out.

    Good luck!

  4. If your mom agrees to homeschooling you, it all depends on your state laws. For instance, in California, there's not much she can do unless she's already a teacher.

We're in Texas and aren't to high school level with our kids, so as long as I teach core subjects and they are actually learning, I am free to teach them.

There are online high schools that you could look into, I'm not sure how expensive they are though.

Your other option would be to look at private schools.

It all depends really on how much money can be spent on it and what your state laws are. HSLDA has a database of laws for each state.

    Good Luck

  5. Depends on state as to what you need to do. Internet and book stores ( and libraries) carry books about subjects and homeschooling. There may also be a group in the area, the board of education will know. Talk to the principal or counselor at school - ALL states have laws against harrassement and bullying. gl

  6. I'm homeschooled (I'm in 7th grade) and there are quit a few options to choose from.  Many private schools allow homeschooling (like mine) so check into your local private schools.  You can now do online schooling so that might work.  And you could search homeschools on google or yahoo and there is a wide variety of many different homescool places (it doesn't matter where some are located cuz some ship the equipment [books] to you).

And also you need to tell someone about the harassment.  That should not be exceptable anywhere so maybe talk to the principal (or someone in charge) and say you want something done.  Sry about the harassment.  I hope I helped : )

  7. Have you ever considered an alternative school? They typical have fewer students and not all of them are bad kids. Other wise you can check your local library. Sometimes they have all they you could need.

    Good Luck
