  1. 5x - 13y - 12x + 22y

Simplify by combining like terms (xs with xs, ys with ys - it may help to rearrange it first)

    5x - 12x - 13y + 22y

    = -7x + 9y

  2. is there  an equals sign, if not then you group

    5x-12x+22y-13y

    5x-12x = -7x

    22y-13y= 9y

-7x+9y or 9y-7x whichever answer you like best

  3. Step 1: Write the problem out: 5x - 13y - 12x + 22y

    Step 2: Combine like terms:  -12x + 5x and -13y + 22y

    Step 3:And There you go:  -7x + 9y

  4. You have to simplify. Look for the terms with the same variables.

Here, you can combine 5x and -12x

    and combine -13y and 22y

    Then, add them.

    You get -7x+9y

    Hope this helps! :)
