Question:

I need help with my Ollie please!?

It's my first day learning to do an ollie. I have been outside for about an hour so far trying out the ollie. When I try to slide my foot up the board, it catches onto the black stuff on the board. I am able to slide about 2/5 times, but the other three times my foot catches onto the board and won't slide.

Also, how do I know if it's come of the ground. I don't have a video camera or something and I don't want to have my parents looking at it for me, so how else would I know?

Is there any way to build up my confindence when doing an ollie while I'm riding? I keep falling.

And, how long did it take you to learn your ollie? I just want to know so that I have an estimate on how long it should take me.

  1. umm this is the swimming section. but i can help u because i used to skateboard very regularly. its easier to learn it while moving. so just give your board a pop and lift your foot and slide it. the trick is to pop and lift the other foot. it took me like 2-3 days to get it. keep trying, you will eventually get it. you may want to take a look on some videos on how to ollie. dont worry if u fall, you will fall a lot more. once you get your ollie, try mastering it before you go onto another trick. it will be better for you, if u can ollie half a meter high, then it will take u a lot less to learn how to kickflip or heelflip.

the black stuff is the grip tape and it helps u stay gripped to the board, dont worry if it catches onto it, just continue ur slide.

i'd recommend going for a heelflip because i found it easier than kickflip.

    good luck!
