I have tennis tryouts on the 20th and I want to practice. But there is nobody to practice with. I was going to do a tennis camp, but the cost is so high its ridicuolus. They went up on all there prices. My parents and my brother are always at work and my friends are either on vacation or don't play tennis! So they have no idea what there doing. What are some way that I can practice for tennis in my backyard by myself?

  1. 1. maybe it will be a good idea for your friends to play with you, even if they don't play tennis... so you can practice all the hits you possibly can like overhead and such.. because if they don't play tennis... then chances are they will lob a lot

    2. you can hit your racquet against the wall to pinpoint where you would make contact with the ball

    3. you can just practice hitting the ball by yourself at the park [that's what i use to do]

  2. Man I feel your pain, I know exactly what you are talking about.

I can't seem to find anyone now and I love the game.

One other thing you might want to try although it simulates the game of Tennis and you can do it by yourself is indoor racketball, that would come closes and you can practice by yourself..Don't foget eye protection.  Good Luck, If you become big one day I hope you remember this email...

  3. I would recommend hitting it against a wall and go buy about 40 tennis balls the go serve about 100 times everyday it will help your serve tremendously... also do jump rope it will really help your footwork.

  4. Ball machine...ball machine.....ball machine and practice serves!

  5. i have a similar problem, i love playing and always want to...but a lot of times i can't find anyone at my level to play with.

i convinced my parents to buy me a tennis ball machine. it's kind of expensive, but would be worth it in the long run, in case you're interested in the future...

what i would do (and actually do) is practice serves a LOT. now my serve is one of the best parts of my game.

also, don't forget your second serve...i did and had to go back and get one, mine literally was just a dink into the service box.

also, practice against a wall. it will help your consistency and improve your reactions.

you might want to jump rope or do ladders, for footwork. or you could just draw a line and hop over and back with your feet together on your heels...good for your calf muscles and endurance.

    running would also be helpful.

if you worked out your forearms/arms in general it would be good for your volleys and your whole game.

    hope i helped!

  6. try hitting against a wall. it helps your shots get better
