  1. Use the 26 character hex option. The passphrase/password stuff isn't standardised.

On a most routers you start at http://192.168.1.1 and select the security tab. One way to be sure what the key is; is to replace it in all your machines with a new key.

If that doesn't work open a command window and use the ipconfig /all command to find your "default gateway". Use http://w.x.y.z with the IP address for that machine.

Use https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm to generate a perfect password

  2. The WEP key is different from the WEP Passphrase that was used to generate the key as well. Say if you use the passphrase "Passkey" it might come out of the generator on your router looking like "506173736b6579." The generated Alpha Numeric key is what you need to enter to access the router not the passphrase.

  3. the WEP key is the security code that you set for your wireless network.  If you can't recall what it is, then you'll have to log in to your router's setup page and you can either retrieve the key from the settings, or reset it to a new one.

to get to your router's setup page, look for your router's documentation (either the paper docs that came with it, or on the router manufacturer's web page).
