  1. Does he bathe or get misted at least 4 times a  week?? It could be a lot of dander (they have lots) that is making him look dull.  Do you feed him a pelleted diet???  Pellets are the best diet a bird can have, it gives them every bit of all the nutrition they need without having to give vitamin supplements.  Pellets will also make the feathers look better, in color and  shine.  If he is not an old Grey, he should not be looking dull.  If he is not eating or drinking like he normally does, or acting differently, you need to take him to the vet. This can be a sign of disease sometimes, especially since you said it has happened all of a sudden.  Look for these things

    Runny nose or crusting on the nostrils

    Runny eyes, or crusting around the eyes

    Droopy wings

    Fluffed feathers all the time. (other than usual)

    Not eating or drinking

    Bad feather condition or color

    Runny stools

    Sneezing (some each day is normal)

    Open mouth breathing

    Wheezing

    Coughing

    Vomiting

    These are just some of the signs to look for that you need to tell the vet about when you talk to him.  Please read my profile

  2. It's that time of the season for most birds to molt so that could be the reason.  Another thing is that it can be his diet.  Make sure he gets a good diet of pellets, veggies, fruits, sprouts and seeds.

  3. Take a shower and put him in with you. He should be showered or misted about every other day. Some greys like to have a shallow bowl or pan of water in their cage to take a bath at will. I use a glass baking dish fill it about half way with cold water and float some dandilion greens or kale on the water. He gets in the water and has fun eating and playing with his food.

  4. Make sure your bird is bathing 3-5 times a week, especially going into the summer months. This helps keep their plummage looking healthy and being healthy.

    Also, natural daylight is really good for their feathers so here are some other things you can do for your bird;

    Through the window light isn't supposed to be good enough but if your window has a screen, it's best to let light shine through there etc... read that website for more info. in detail.
