So far i have to make flash cards on the units. So on one side you write the unit and on the other what the unit measures. Some of them i can't seem to find. She gave us either the unit or what the unit measures. you just have to find the missing thing. these are the ones i have am having trouble with

Vibrations/sec

Pound

Kilogram meter^2/sec^2

joule/sec

newton second

horsepower

degrees

radians/sec

seconds/vibration

m/sec^2

kg m/sec^2

  1. I think that the vibrations/sec thing is the same thing as cycles/sec.  In that case, it's called a Hertz, abbreviated Hz.  It's a measure of frequency.

Pound is a non-SI unit for force.  Abbreviation is lb.

kg*m^2/s^2 is the SI derived unit equal to one Joule, abbreviated J.  It measures energy (work, heat).

N*s = kg*m/s^2*s = kg*m/s = mass times velocity, which is the same as momentum.  Momentum's unit does not have its own special name.

Horsepower (hp or HP) is a (actually, several) non-SI unit for, well, power.

Degree is a unit for angle measurement or angular displacement.

rad/s is the unit for angular velocity.

Seconds per vibration (or seconds per cycle), or simply seconds, is the unit for the period of a cycle, which is the time that it takes for an oscillating system to complete one vibration.

m/s^2 is the unit for acceleration.

kg*m/s^2 is called the Newton, abbreviated N.  It is used for force (and weight, which is a type of force).
