I have a 20 gallon tall freshwater aquarium. I have 3 platties, 1 male betta and i would like to add some plants but im not sure which ones would be good. The lighting is moderate and i have liquid iron supplements for plants once i get them. If any one can please let me know what plants would be good and what other fish i would be able to put in there.

  1. Amazon swords are a hardy plant and do grow well

ive found this web site that i think is very useful ; http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pf...

To be honest most plants are suitable for any aquarium but if you want it to be easier i would stay away from coloured plants as they need much more light to keep their colour.

Also what you need to look out for is house plants, when a pet shop put an order in for the plants they want they are not all necessarily in stock so the supplyer just gives random ones and some happen to be house plants (i work in an aquatics centre and it happens all the time we just advise that they require dryer conditions   lol)

Bottom feeders would add some life to the bottom of your tank corydoras are a peaceful species that like to be in groups but are happy in pairs or 3s if you don't want loads

Most tetras should be fine just be aware that some do get a bit nippy

    hope this helps

  2. i find baby tears easy to grow
