I am stitching Country Companions Big Bunch of Love cross stitch kit and am finding the backstitch impossible where it falls on the gridlines.(I cant see it cos the chart is black and white and the backstitch lines are the same as the gridlines).I was wondering if anyone had done this kit before and how did you get round this?

  1. i havent done that one and havent cross stitched in years but the way i use to backstitch if it was the same as the grid i use to look at the picture of the finished project advertised on the front of the pack or in the magazine and i would see where the backstitch is on that. you need to look pretty close though but it gives you a rough idea.

i thought backstitch was ALWAYS shown in a different colour or thicker than the grid lines? is it a photocopy? cos that's really bad of the company to not show the backstitch lines clearer

  2. Oh that's easy. Just photocopy the chart to double the size i.e. A4 to A3 and then you can see it better.

  3. I haven't done that kit but I have that experience with other kits.

First thing I do is look down the line, or where I think the line should be and see if I can tell where is curves off the grid.  Then you know how far to go.  Second thing I do is take a close look at the picture and see if I can find it on there.  Compare the two to confirm your backstitch path.
