I need to raise a monarch butterfly apparently in school, and we have all the milkweeds, but I don't know what container to store it in.

1. How much room does a Monarch larvae need?

2. What to store it in?

3. If it is a store bought container WHERE TO FIND ONE? And what would it be called?

  1. When I did that in 7th grade, the teacher supplied everything we needed.  This is what he gave us:

When a monarch larvae is just starting out, it barely needs any space at all.  Just a petri dish with a lid on it, pretty much.  When it grew a little more, just a little less than your pinky size, we moved our larvae into a cylinder-shaped clear container.  The container was about 6-8 inches tall, with about the same circumference as the petri dish.  The container had holes in the top for breathing.

I'm not sure where to get the supplies, but I'm sure any store would have a container fit for your larvae.
