I need help with my child's school work......?

My son seems to be lagging behind due to some slight disorders. But the doctor assures me that a little extra effort at home will really help him. I have some pointers and guidelines, so I know what I have to do. My problem is that I need pictures of animals, objects, insects for him to identify, re-arrange, match, etc. Can you tell me where I can get such pictures on the internet, either to download or print?

  1. Buy some coloring books.

  2. it is easier if you go to a bookstore and buy your child a picture dictionary book, a phonics book and other picture related books.  I have lots for my kids. In that way they can learn by themselves by looking at the pictures

  3. Take him to a bookstore and shpw him pictures and whatnot for him to recognize and identify

  4. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/categor...

  5. Like others said before me, Enchanted learning does have a lot of pictures you can easily copy and paste into a Word document and just print out. And of course Google images does the exact same thing. They have thousands of pictures.

If you go to    www.montessorimaterials.org   (a Montessori website for teachers) and click on the "Language" link, then click on "Classfied Cards" link, you will be given a list of categorized pictures. Each link is a file you can download, and the cards are already made for you with the picture and with the word. You can print out two copies and have a matching set completely made, and it is less work for you to do.

(Montessori classrooms use these cards to teach children new vocabulary in one specific category, and then later use the cards for 4 and 5 year olds to read the words.)

  6. Garage sale time is now upon us.  I find LOTS of wonderful books there.  Because of the cheap prices I don't hesitate to put some of these books in my cutting box.

I also find great workbooks that have been done in FREE boxes.  The pictures in these books are still good to use.

Use these pictures and make some fun learning games.  To get a few ideas of the kinds of home-made games you can provide for him, go to my website Games For Learning.

    then click images,

then type in the bar an insect or animal name/breed,

click on the picture you like and print.

  13. Well i just tried it and ithink you could get some nice pictures for kids if you search cute animal pictures in images on yahoo search.

  14. I'm sure people already wrote that you can go to google images and get specific items, or animals, or even people performing actions like running, eating, laughing.  Another thing you can do is bury stickers books made for preschoolers.  Many have fantastic photo pictures in  the categories you mentioned.  I teach special ed. and I buy them and make them into games using laminated file folders and velcro.  I glue the stickers onto card stock before I laminate them, also.  That way your child can use them over and over.  The activity is fun and vocabulary building.
