  1. yeah its a little slow... but you will get better when i started to run 2 miles i got 16-18min and now i get 13-14min after about a year so you should get better

  2. JAG he wants to train for xc though. Ya its sorta slow but your a beginner no worries. Hills arn't that big of a deal. You shouldnt do them everyday. I'd just run through the neighborhood. So what if its crowded run in the streets or the sidewalks. A good work out is to run for 5 minutes then do a pick up (like 80% of a sprint) for 30 seconds then run 5 more minutes and repeat. You really don't need to know what it takes to run 2 miles you shouldnt worry about it. I mean I would guess 15 minutes at a jog but it varies a lot. When people talk about times for distances its normally for races. Its hard to tell for a normal run.

  3. I think you should swim. Try treading water for a long period of time. Start at 15 minutes and then go longer progressively. That should really tone up all of your body well. Hope this helps.           edit> truemusic53, that's the point, swimming is good for all of your muscles in your body and will make them really tone in no time. He still has to run, but swiming will help make him more agile and stronger.
