I need help with my dvd drive? (EASY 10 POINTS)

Question

The door on my DVD drive just says DVD ROM AND DISC Rewritable, so does that mean that I have a DVD writer? I need to download, convert and burn a youtube video but when I burn it, no error message comes and says Finished. When I put the DVD into the computer and DVD player, nothing comes on My Computer and on the DVD player it says Disc error. Can someone say what's wrong or if there is a DVD writer in my computer. (BY THE WAY, I USED A DVD-R FOR BURNING IT, DO I HAVE TO USE DVD-RW OR WHAT) PLEASE I'M DESPERATE!!!!!!!!

Sound like you have a DVD ROM/ CD-RW Burner Combo.  Alot of off brand companies put them in because they are cheaper then full DVD RW Burners.  What software are you using to burn?  If you are using Nero, it will let you select DVD/ CD.  Make sure it recognize the Burner unit and not Image Burner to harddrive.  Also, you can burn a VCD or SVCD if your burner is just for CD-RW.  Or just straight MPeg.  Most computers and some DVD player will play them.

If you have to buy a DVD-RW recorder and are not the do it yourself type, you might consider external burner with 2.0 USB.  Make sure your computer has a 2.0 USB port available.
